Revolving Doors – August 2024

Half-way through reporting season, phew. For those ASX listed or 30 June year-end finance teams, you’re hopefully through the worst of year-end activities! For most of you, there would only be a couple of weeks to go until those stat accounts are signed off, your annual audit is complete and those pesky Annual Reports are issued. I bet you can’t wait for winter to end, bring on September!

The CFO merry go round continues. Whilst there weren’t as many CFO movements in July compared to the previous month, as usual there has been some interesting movers and shakers. Enjoy this month’s read.

ASX CFO Moves In <

Hot Chili, the Chilean copper miner, have announced the spicy hire of Ryan Finkelstein as CFO, effective 15 July. Ryan comes from a strong career primarily at Grant Thornton.

Sky City Entertainment Group, a dual listed ASX/NZX business that operates integrated entertainment complexes, announced the appointment of Peter Fredricson as CFO. Peter comes with 25 years of experience and will start on 5 August 2024.

Following in the same theme, The Star Entertainment Group has announced the formal appointment of Neale O’Connell as Interim Group Chief Financial Officer. Neale has now been in the role since 22 March 2024.

Select Harvests, the almond specialists, has announced the not-so-nutty appointment of Tim Bradfield as the Company’s Interim CFO and Company Secretary, effective 24 July 2024. They continue their full time CFO search.

Deep Yellow, a Uranium mid-cap, has announced Craig Barnes as the CFO with a start date of 1 August 2024. Craig is an experienced mining executive both in Australia and Africa and thus a sun-sational hire!

McPherson’s Consumer Products have announced the hire of Mark Sherwin as their new CFO. Mark brings a strong finance perspective to our essential needs in health, beauty and wellness.

Alliance Aviation Services, based out of sunny Eagle Farm Queensland, has announced the resignation of Marc Devine as CFO effective 30 August 2024. Marc was in the cockpit for 8 years and played a key role in the growth of the aircraft business. Andrew Evans, an internal hire, will be taking over as CFO on 1 September.

Kingsrose Mining, the sustainable Scandinavian miner, has announced the resignation of Mark Smith and retirement from full-time employment. They are currently undergoing a search for Mark’s replacement.

Sunrise Energy Metals, an innovator in battery metals, has announced the resignation of Ben Stockdale as CFO. Ben spent 10 electrifying years at Sunrise Energy and is ready for his next adventure.

Interesting Move Outside the AXS

In the world of lifelong education, Kaplan Group has appointed their new CFO, Linda Benson. Linda brings with her a plethora of experience and an impressive education pedigree to the role.

GenesisCare, the integrated cancer care provider, has appointed David Lovelace as the new CFO starting in August 2024, with an orderly transition from the impressive incumbent CFO, Larry Morrisey.   

Light up those bbqs this cold winter to celebrate Steven Evans’ appointment as CFO at Barbeques Galore. Steven brings with him a wealth of experience to the Quadrant Private Equity backed business.
