Myriota Appoints Richard Leon as CFO
Myriota names Altium exit veteran Richard Leon as CFO ahead of capital raise
Richard Leon, a public-markets CFO whose track record spans Altium’s A$9.1bn Renesas sale and a fourfold share-price rise at Infomedia, joins the Adelaide satellite IoT firm as it prepares its next funding round.
Adelaide-based satellite IoT company Myriota has appointed Richard Leon as Chief Financial Officer, bringing in a seasoned technology CFO as the company prepares for its next phase of global growth and an upcoming capital raise.
Leon joins from Altium, where he served as CFO across two stints. He first held the role from 2008 to 2016, then returned to play a central role in the company’s A$9.1 billion acquisition by Renesas Electronics, alongside a A$45 million capital raise. Between those Altium appointments, he spent 2016 to 2021 as CFO of Infomedia, where he led an A$85 million raise and delivered a fourfold increase in the company’s share price during his tenure.
The appointment comes at a pivotal stage for Myriota, which is positioning itself as the global platform for physical world intelligence, connecting remote assets at scale and turning field data into operational insight. The company points to Leon’s experience taking technology businesses through defining periods of growth as instrumental to its next phase.
“Richard is a world-class technology CFO with an exceptional track record for helping innovative companies scale globally,” said Myriota CEO Ben Cade, adding that Leon had chosen to join a business whose mission, global potential and approach to growth aligned with his own.
“Myriota has all the ingredients of a category-defining business: differentiated technology, a growing global market and a talented team with a clear vision,” said Leon, adding that he was looking forward to partnering with Cade and the team to build on the company’s strong financial foundations through the next stage of growth.
The appointment follows a period of innovation and commercial momentum at Myriota, including this year’s launch of its HyperPulse hybrid satellite and cellular IoT network and its AssetHawk asset tracking platform. The company says its focus now turns to global customer adoption, platform expansion and long-term shareholder value.
