Revolving Doors – October 2024

It’s been another busy month for Australian CFOs! As finance leaders prepare to enter daylight savings, juggle school holidays, gear up for ‘term four’ and push through to the end of 2024 (only 11 weeks until Christmas!), here are some notable ‘revolving door’ movements. Have a great month!

ASX Moves IN <

Nuix, have appointed Peter McClelland as their CFO effective 4 November 2024. Peter brings over 25 years of experience, and was previously CFO & COO of oOh! Media, and most recently CFO of City Chic Collective Limited. Interim CFO Cynthia Evans will remain in the role until November to facilitate a smooth transition.

Cochlear, global leader in implantable hearing solutions, have appointed Sarah Thom as their CFO, effective 1 January 2025. Sarah joins Cochlear from BCG, and has significant strategy and performance enhancement experience in health care and other highly regulated sectors.

Nine Entertainment Co, have appointed Graeme Cassells as acting CFO effective 1 October 2024, following the appointment of Matt Stanton as acting CEO earlier in the month. Graeme is currently the Deputy CFO and has operated as acting CFO at Nine in the past.

EQ Resources, global tungsten producer with mining activities in Australia and Spain, have appointed Andrew Mooney as their CFO effective 21 October 2024. Andrew brings 25+ years of finance experience, including previous roles at Coronado Global Resources and Big Four accounting firms.

Santos, provider of reliable and affordable energy, have announced Sherry Duhe as their new CFO who will commence mid-October. Sherry’s credentials include four years as CFO at Woodside Energy and 13 years at Shell. Sherry will replace outgoing CFO Anthea McKinnell who will be retiring after a stellar 28+ year career holding senior finance roles across the globe, predominantly in the oil and gas industry.

ASX Moves OUT >

Xero, accounting software for small businesses and sole traders, and the stock that every accountant wished they purchased as a grad, have announced that Kirsty Godfrey-Billy will step down on 31 March 2025 after nine years at Xero and 6+ years as their CFO. A global CFO search to replace her is underway.

Evolution Energy Minerals Limited, provider of sustainable graphite products for the global green economy, have announced the resignation of their CFO Grant Dyker effective 30 October 2024, who is stepping down to pursue other opportunities.

Interesting Moves Outside the ASX

Harris Farm Markets, Australian grocery store chain proudly family owned and operated, have announced Angela Wagland as their new CFO who will start her new role with them in October. Angela was previously Group CFO at Foodco, and we wish her the best in her new adventure.

Robert Beenstock has been appointed as the CFO at NextOre after a 3-month interim stint. Robert was previously CFO and UK Director of Health House Holdings.

Tyro Payments appointed Emma Burke as their new CFO, replacing Prav Pala. Emma was the Deputy CFO at Stockland, and will commence with Tyro in late October to allow a period of handover with Prav Pala finishing up on 15 November.

Botany Group, 100% Australian owned national import and distribution business, have appointed Helen Bourke as their CFO. We wish Helen all the best in her new role.

Star Hotel Group, Queensland’s largest independently owned and operated pub and liquor retailing group, have appointed David Bettes as their CFO. David brings strong credentials as ex-CFO of REDiMED and Endeavour College of Natural Health.
