Latest A/NZ CFO Appointments > March 2026
A bumper month of senior finance moves spans banking, retail, property, tech, healthcare and aviation.
Boards across A/NZ are moving fast to lock in top-tier finance talent. Here are some of the most notable recent appointments:
Banking
Inder Singh | Group CFO & Executive Strategy — NAB
Singh arrives from QBE Insurance Group, where he served as CFO since 2018, with earlier stints at Deutsche Bank and UBS in Australia. A seasoned operator across insurance and investment banking – exactly the cross-sector depth NAB is looking for.
Property Technology
Andrew Cramer | CFO – REA Group
Effective 12 February, Cramer joins from News Corp New York where he was Deputy CFO. He also brings eight-plus years as Citi’s head of TMT investment banking for ANZ and four years at Macquarie. He steps into the shoes of Janelle Hopkins, who retired after seven years in the role.
Retail
Matt Edmonds | Group CFO — Adairs
Edmonds joined on 9 February from Coles Group, where a decade-long career ended as GM of Finance, Digital and Technology. More than 20 years of international retail finance experience — well suited to Adairs’ omnichannel growth story.
Technology
James Chuong | CFO – Atlassian
One of the most noteworthy of the month. Atlassian has recruited LinkedIn’s CFO James Chuong, effective 30 March, after nearly five years in the top finance seat at LinkedIn. A signal of serious intent from the Australian-founded tech giant as it continues its global push.
Healthcare
Anthony Neilson | Group CFO — Ramsay Health Care
Confirmed at Ramsay’s February AGM, Neilson brings extensive financial and commercial experience to one of Australia’s largest private hospital operators. With a renewed focus on performance, the timing of this appointment looks deliberate.
Financial Services
CFO Search Underway | Group CFO — AMP
AMP’s CFO Blair Vernon has been promoted to Group CEO effective 30 March, succeeding the retiring Alexis George — opening up one of the most prominent CFO seats in Australian financial services. Search is active.
Aviation
Permanent Appointment Imminent | CFO – Alliance Aviation Services
Andrew Evans has departed and an interim CFO is in place, but Alliance says its recruitment process is well advanced with a permanent appointment expected in March 2026.
New Zealand
Insurance
Peter Gudsell | CFO – AA Insurance
Gudsell steps in effective 24 March, joining from Southern Cross Healthcare where he held senior finance, governance and change management responsibilities. He arrives at a demanding moment for NZ insurers, with the sector navigating regulatory, capital and catastrophe-related pressures simultaneously.
Agribusiness
Ben Washington | CFO – Scales Corporation (NZX: SCL)
Announced 19 February, Washington joins from KMD Brands where he was CFO of Kathmandu, with an earlier career at PwC. He takes over from Steve Kennelly, who retires in May after a remarkable 15 years in the role. Washington starts 1 June 2026.
Sport & Entertainment
Chris Kinraid | CFO — New Zealand Rugby
A big-name appointment for one of New Zealand’s most iconic organisations. Kinraid joins NZ Rugby in February 2026 bringing serious commercial credentials – former CEO of Hallenstein Glasson Holdings and, before that, Group CFO of KMD Brands, the parent of Kathmandu and Rip Curl. A sharp pick for an organisation managing both elite sport and a complex commercial operation.
