Super Retail Group Appoints Sarah Hunter as CFO

Super Retail Group has appointed Sarah Hunter as its incoming Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 June 2026, as the Group prepares to enter a new phase of strategic growth.

Hunter brings more than 15 years of senior retail leadership to the role, joining from Officeworks where she served as Managing Director and member of the Wesfarmers Leadership Team. In that role, she led a team of more than 9,000 people across 173 stores, offices and distribution centres, delivering sustained growth in revenue, profitability and omni-channel sales.

The appointment follows the retirement of long-serving CFO David Burns, who joined Super Retail Group in December 2012 and will remain in the role until 28 August 2026 before retiring in November.

Hunter’s background spans both retail operations and corporate finance at the highest levels. At Coles Group, she held a number of senior positions including State General Manager for Victoria and Program Director of the Coles demerger – the largest corporate separation in Australian history – where she was responsible for the end-to-end separation of Coles from Wesfarmers. She also held the role of Financial Controller of Coles Group.

Earlier in her career, Hunter held senior finance and strategy roles in the UK, serving as Finance and Strategy Director of Gatwick Airport and Head of Investor Relations for BAA plc, giving her significant exposure to capital markets and institutional investor engagement.

Super Retail Group Managing Director and CEO Paul Bradshaw welcomed the appointment. “Sarah is an accomplished leader who shares our customer-focused approach to retail management. She is a strong financial and transformation leader with demonstrated operational depth and she will be a significant asset to our business as we prepare to embark on our new five-year strategy.”

Hunter said she was looking forward to joining the Group at what she described as an exciting period. “Like millions of Australians, I am passionate about Super Retail Group’s brands and I am thrilled to be joining the Group to help deliver a new phase of growth with Paul and the leadership team. I look forward to working with the team to grow its much-loved brands and continue its customer-first approach.”

Bradshaw also paid tribute to David Burns on his retirement. “I would like to sincerely thank David for his contribution and commitment to the Group over the past 13 years. David has been an outstanding executive for our business and I wish him well in his retirement.”

Hunter will join as Chief Financial Officer, Designate on 1 June 2026, transitioning into the role fully ahead of Burns’ departure in August.
